Musa Masala: Year in Review
Hey everyone, look at what we all did! 2025 was a busy year for Musa Masala. With a limited budget we accomplished so much. Here is a quick rundown for you.
We are so proud to be working with the most amazing people. It’s really one of the reasons why we are so committed to giving people a chance to get in the game. We get to hang out with extraordinary people who will change the world around them.
A Musa Masala bandana on the summit of Chhuama 1 (6325m), a first ascent by friends of Musa and star climbers Jen Jen Lama, Pasang Rinzee Sherpa, and Ashish Gurung. Making history in the big mountains, and always being there to help Musa in the indoor climbing community. Our friends get it done!!
For our happenings up to July, check out our newsletter here. It includes:
Sending Nepals climbers to International competitions
Sponsoring the National Climbing Competition
Our Fourth Annual Free Dental Camp
Our work with the Himalayan Rescue Association
Cybersecurity Card with Cyberlixir
Our new website
Here are our events from August to the end of the year!
1. Musa Masala, again with Wongchhu Peak Promotion sponsored the International Open Lead Indoor Climbing Competition, “Come Climb With Us”, on August 30th at the newly opened Ascend Climbing Gym. Climbers from nine countries came to Nepal to compete, bringing new talent and inspiration to the climbing community!
2. The Musa team gathered at the Sierra Nevada Wilderness Medicine and Conservation Conference in Quincy, CA. We presented our Creating in Comfort Art Workshop with Julie Ramirez — always a great experience that leads to creativity and great conversations about stress and its impact on first responders. Tatiana Havryliuk and Hello Sono did an ultrasound workshop. Cyberlixir worked the Musa exhibitors table with us and gave an eye opening talk on the importance of Cybersecurity for your devices and in remote workplaces. Well received by the attendees, it really led to lots of conversations!
3. Dr Anumesh Dahal and Mike Ji presented live for Wild Med Wednesday on austere dentistry and the Musa Dental Camps. Dr. Anumesh was live from Nepal! A awesome organization, Wild Med Wednesday provides continuing education credits for physicians in wilderness medicine topics.
4. Musa Masala helped to facilitate Tsering’s Fund’s annual Hero Camp for their students, a climbing day at Kathmandu Sport Climbing Center.
5. Our first time exhibiting at the 10th Annual P-22 Mountain Lion Festival in Los Angeles was so awesome!! With our special guests Aaron Johnson and Jora Nelstein creating an amazing mural celebrating P-22 and the work of Musa Masala. What a day honoring the environment and the world’s most famous big cat.
6. A new series with our friend Ariadna Lucero and Alta Nutricion launched with Hunger and Appetite at Altitude: When the Body Says No but Still Needs Energy. Excellent resources to help you prepare for your next climb or trek up high.
7. Musa Masala helped support the Kathmandu Outdoorfest 2025, December 12-15th. A series of events, bouldering, slackline, trail running and rappelling, it’s designed to bring Nepal’s outdoor community together. It’s a big hit!!
8. For our final event of 2025, we partnered with Sattya Arts Collective, to present “Tales From the Flames.” Songs and stories from our friend Lama Dai were sung from the rooftop of the Sattya building. It was a beautiful night.
So that’s a very brief overview. Find much more on our social media and YouTube,as well as our new website. Many of these events we still have to catch up on for the blog.
First up for 2026, we will present our scholarship winners! We’re super proud of our friends and family here. There’s so much progress and we see many good things moving forward.
Your donations always allow us to:
Put on these climbing competitions and clinics
Send climbers to international competitions
Provide gear and equipment
Put on camps that provide the ONLY dental care in the area for deserving communities
Commit funding for scholarships for medical school, nursing and specialty schools, wilderness first responder and first aid courses, and mountain guide training
Each individual who benefits from Musa Masala is someone who already goes beyond the normal to help their community. Let’s do more in 2026 and make bigger steps up on this continuous climb to do better. Jam Jam!!
