National Sport Climbing Championship 2025 Concludes Successfully in Kathmandu, Nepal
The indoor sport climbing community in Nepal celebrated a historic event this past March, when the Nepal Climbing Sport Association, (NCSA), held the first National Championships in seven years. Musa Masala and Wongchhu Peak Promotion have been organizing competitions since 2022, but this was the first government organized event. Here to tell you all about it is Pranil Man Shrestha. Pranil is a national climbing champion and the managing director of the Kathmandu Sport Climbing Center, where the event was held. Pranil is a great friend of Musa Masala and he has been instrumental in the growth of indoor climbing in Nepal.

National Sport Climbing Championship 2025 Concludes Successfully in Kathmandu, Nepal

The Nepal Climbing Sport Association (NCSA) celebrated a historic moment with the successful organize of the National Sport Climbing Championship 2025, held on 21st and 22nd March at the Kathmandu Sport Climbing Center. The event was inaugurated by Chief Guest Tanka Lal Ghising (Nepal Sports Council), who officially commenced the competition by cutting a new climbing rope coil, symbolizing the beginning of a new era for sport climbing in Nepal.
This year’s championship marked the revival of the national competition after a seven-year hiatus since 2018, attracting talented athletes from four of Nepal’s seven provinces, underscoring the sport’s growing popularity and potential in the country.

A major highlight was the world-class route-setting, led by Chief Route Setter Bibhas Roy, with technical support from the Indian Mountaineering Foundation. The meticulously designed routes provided athletes with a challenging yet rewarding experience,elevating the competition’s prestige a first for Nepal’s climbing scene.
